You forget I was using SatSouth's logic. You gave 2 logical opinions for why membership has declined. They were logical, but there are other educated people who have researched this deeply. They have found that it is due to employer scare tactics. The problem is sooo bad that a new law is in congress about to get passed to remove company scare tactics from the union election process.
According to the NLRB, 20,000 employees a year are ILLEGALLY fired for supporting unions. These firing are crimes. Only they are crimes whos penalties are minor. The fines have not been increased since the early 1900's. The Employee Free Choice Act is the law. It has been co-sponsered by both Republicans and Dems. Both parties acknowledge company scare tactics are ruining the democratic process of union elections. Everybody feels employees rights are being ignored and must be stopped.
But your 2 logical reason are yours. Enjoy them.
