Re: Lastest news on Verizon

Verizon stock is down 20%, and in the rural, small towns that we provide cable to, they are losing customers in droves. A lot of them are getting a cable modem and Vonage, or just using their cell phone. Verizon has tried to reclaim some of the lost revenue by increasing the fee for services like caller I.D. and call waiting, but customers usually just drop the extras or the phone line entirely. Verizon has always charged long distance for neighboring towns five or ten miles away. I can't imagine Verizon building FTTH in a small town, say 500 homes passed at $1000 per pass, spending one half of a million dollars and still try to keep customers that they have been abusing for years.
