Sorry to hear of your fall and leg injury..
If you were an employee the supervisor would have or should have come by to fill out the old workers comp forms. If the firm was trying to keep its workers comp down they would have had you back in the saddle doing light duty tasks around the office warehouse... Unless you blew them off?
If you were a sub they owe you nothing but your check. You are right that a hand shake and a how are you doin would be nice...
Hope you keep on mending aaget back in the saddle soon.
