What I'm saying is that Verizon's video service that they are already providing today in only a few markets, is basically just digital CATV. As opposed to being a VDSL, or some other IPTV architecture.
This is why they are laying fiber everywhere...because their video system isn't made to work on POTS lines, like AT&T or Bellsouth is doing. I do, however, think Verizon made the right choice by laying fiber...unlike the other telcos...who will get smashed by catv in their respective markets, if CATV decides they want to.
After they have finished their FTTP (or FTTH) buildout...the biggest difference between the Verizon OSP & typical CATV OSP, will essentially be no hardline coax, and no nodes as you see them in catv. This means no need for sweep as we know it, but it will mean more involved installs...more fiber splicing, etc.
All I'm saying is thatcatv contractors & techs should be ok...regardless of what companies like Verizon do..and maybe better off for it.
