Connect your LNB line first before powering on or connecting receiver voltage. Any accidental shorting across the braid to center conductor will cause a rise in power, giving you that message.
The thing that drove me nuts about the meter was that the charger was designed for 15vdc and not 12vdc. That makes the car charger useless unless you downshift and hi-rev the engine to get the alternator to produce more voltage.
