I have been doing UG construction and drops for nearly 13 yrs. I have used Ditch Witch, Case, Vermeer and Burkeen. The Ditch Witch is ok if you have a depth of about 6 to 8 in. Or very soft soil. As far as the other three go it is a toss up between Vermeer and Burkeen. The Burkeen has the least chance of a roll over. The downside is they are out of business and buying a used on is generally expensive. The Vermeer is an excellent machine. Again, usually expensive and they are a little top heavy. I just bought a Case Maxi. It seems to be a pretty good machine. Plenty of power. It is a little top heavy due to the reel racks on it. The best thing is the price. It seemed to be about the least expensive of the bunch.
