Hooks?....Man I've been up several 100 thousand poles without hooks. Nothing wrong with them....I've used them too. Ill take on someone with hooks any day when you're going in and out of the customers house. Just doing outside work, OK, maybe you use hooks, especially for rear easement. But my choice still would be a ladder with hooks as a back up for that unusual pole you might get once a year.
