I used to assemble and install power supplies in a TWC system in North Carolina. These were 45 , 60 , and 90 volt injecters without standby power . The specifications from the construction manager requested a seperate ground for the entire supply assembly , to include the cabinet , the electric meter , any internal outlets , and the disconnect switch . I believe he was following the local code , and also adhering to the desires of the power company .
Another time , I was assembling and installing emergency standby power supplies for AT&T in Georgia. These included thier own genrator . The above wiring requirements were the same , and also included the installation of a ground array ( a series of interconnected ground rods ) , for one ground rod was insufficient for both equipment and public/personnel protection.
These are just my experiences, but , I know they followed the local electrical code and safe electrical wiring practices. I suggest you contact the power company you will be connecting to, for thier suggestions and requirements. If time is of the essence, let me know, I will draw and send you diagrams based on my experiences.
