I would say for the money. They most likely pay around $25.00 +/- for the modem and their rent is what? Maybe 2.00+ a month. After a year or so it's all profit. That's a good return! They must be instructed to "discourage" customer owned modems for that reason although the CSR's or whatever Brighthouse calls them are most likely told some other "reason" (maybe technical BS) why a customer should use a Brighthouse modem. Just my opinion!
