We absolutely must COMPLETELY secure our southern border before any resolution on the disposition of the 10+ million illegals is decided. This must be priority # 1. To do anything else will only embolden more to risk their lives on the illegal crossing and increase the myriad of problems associated with illegal immigration.
I'm for creating a "Guest Worker" program, but not until the border is secure. And I mean iron clad secure. The problem is, the wheels of Congress turn slow when at all. This is why Bush wants it all in one piece of legislation. Oh, well tough. Your record/legacy will have to wait until after 2008.
President Bush's rush to action on issues based solely on faith and convictions has been both a blessing and a curse on this nation. I'll leave it to you to decide how you feel about which issues fit which.
