presidents speech

i know nobody in here probally watched the pres last night. but in case somebody did ild like to have something he said explained to me. the pres and laura bush visited the the hospital and talked with a master gunnery sgt who was injured in iraq. the pres asked this marine what he could do for him. the marine said he would like to see the corporal who helped him be promoted and he would like to get his american citizenship....... now how can a master gunns with 26yr in the marine corp not be a us citizen. it aint been too long ago i did my time in the corp and the background checks are extensive. does the armed forces allow illegal aliens in the service or am i missing something all together.
