Re: Vop, Ohm's Law, Loop Resistance?

Yes, Ohms law is right there on this site. The theory is that if you know 2 of the variables in a circuit you can calculate the third. VOP is simply the speed at which RF propagates through a piece of cable relative to the speed of light through space. For instance if the VOP is .87 then RF propagates at 87% the speed of light This information can be obtained from various sources not the least of which is the cable manufacturer. This information is critical in using a TDR. DC loop resistance also can be obtained from the cable manufacturer and it varies with different types and sizes of cable. It is usually given in ohms per 1000 ft. Using ohms laws you can determine the amount of voltage dropped over a piece of cable when you know the length of the cable and amount of current the actives are drawing through it.
