All companies, since the days of Primestar, have tried to get all customers hooked up with phone lines for two reasons, first, they want the customer to be able to order pay per views from their remote, because those are very profitable, and to be able to track where the receiver is. They will give a number of reasons to diagnostics to not even being able to access certain services (which they keep promising is coming, but never materialize). Just another way for them to keep a chunk of your money. I really wish there was such a thing as honesty in this business..
