I worked for a company installing DTV for the last 2 1/2 years. We installed over 400 receivers a month. If there was a phone jack near the receiver we would hook it up using the phone line provided with the rec. If there wasn't we told the customer if they wanted to get PPV they could call or order it over the internet. There was NEVER any charge back for no phone line. DTV does not MAKE anyone put in a phone line (to the best of my knowledge). I put in 30-40 recievers a week and I would say that half of them were hooked up to the phone only beacuse the jack was close. I never got charged back 1 penny and was never told by the company I worked for that I HAD to put one in. All this MANDITORY phone line crap is just that...CRAP
