Is 1490 wavelength testing necessary?

When testing fiber, if you test 1310 and 1550 wavelengths, is it necessary to test the 1490? How common is it for companies to ask you to test all three wavelengths? I have one telco that is requiring it. No one else has ever asked for it. If it is not becoming industry standard, I'm not sure I want to spend thousands more on a new OTDR.
