If you are considering cable installation work in Central Florida, be aware that there are nine or more Primes in this area and you NEED to read the contracts carefully.
Bigger is not necesarily better and signing on with the wrong people can cost you money and possibly your career.
BE SURE TO ASK ABOUT "NO COMPETE" CLAUSES!!
There is ONE that vehemently adheres to a no compete and will force you out of work if you should decide for whatever reason you no longer desire to work for them.
Most other Primes pretty much ignore the no compete issue feeling that if you are not happy with them then why should they keep you around.
ALSO... ask about paying "fees" to work. There is ONE Prime here that charges a dispatch fee even if you own your own Nextel. In addition to that there are charges for a uniform service as well. All in all, you pay back almost $100 a month for the pleasure of working for them.
I might mention that this particular Prime also pays less than most of the others.
I will not mention names here. If you're interested in work here in Central Florida, make sure you do your homework.... simply words to the wise!
