Why promote the wrong way? If you do it great! if you think it shows some special skill then you have some mighty low expectations. I on occasion have done it myself but only when i don't feel like climbing on top of all the csts things piled ceiling high or something like that so....
Thats the thing "IF" you really know what your doing but there isn't a company out there that would train you nor advise you to do it that way. and brick? hell I have drilled double brick supports to run a 750 feed and solid cement foundations , both are not any harder than wood with the right equipment. So why try to make people think it is so cool to drill outside in? One last thing to ponder: how do you know you have never damaged a line? just because the house didn't burn down as soon as you popped in or saw fire works or smelled gas doesn't mean you didn't nick a line that will deteriorate down the road from moisture etc...
