Be sure you have new guide sleeves and sharp coring tools you can buy kits to replace all the guts for your coring tools.
DO NOT use WD-40 it will destroy the grommets(gaskets) on the connectors it is petrol based.
the cables are only "twisting" because you have distorted the cable. Sweep problems will follow because you have changed the impedance of the cable
don't hack it up, get in a routine of maintaining your tools!!
