The future demand for low voltage wiring is obvious. The question is are are we going to let electricians and corporations determine how low voltage should be regulated and licensed? Do we not believe more regulation is coming in the name of fire hazards and public safety? Is their any doubt the NEC will publish more code on low voltage that will essentially become law because states adopt the NEC as code? Are we going to let Verizon roll out fttp nationwide and put serious pressure on sat & cable taking advantage of lower wages on unregulated low voltage labor? We have no associations, journeymen, apprenticeships, lobbyists, or anything that even compares to other skilled trades. We've all invested in tools, equipment, knowledge, and businesses. We should seriously consider investing in our low voltage industry at a political level before others capitalize on our complacency. Then again maybe I am way out there in left field with this...
