I was refering mostly to those unions in the trades. Meaning those unions who have 1 contract signed by multiple employers through out a particular trade.
CWA/Bell agreements and training are not the same. You mostly receive training on what a job tittle does with in the Bell company you work for. You dont really receive training that covers the whole trade. Meaning if you work in Installation and Repair your training will not include splicing. And although the company administers the training, the union most times bargains the training. I know lucent bargains about 40 hrs a year for paid training. And also you have the alliance http://www.employeegrowth.com/ .
The only reason Im being this specific is because there are many people who just dont know there is a difference from union to union and contract to contract. If you arent aware of some of the differences it can be very confusing. This could lead to many people have unrealistic ideas of what they can accomplish once they form their union.
