Everything you stated suggests you are an employee of the cable prime.
Research this elsewhere...but , if they tell you where to go and can penalize you for not going, you are an employee...They must pay FICA, workman's comp, are responsible for damages you do while in their control as an "employee" and must pay time & one half overtime etc,. Do you perform similar tasks for others? If no do you advertise your services to others and feel free to accept or reject offers of work?.........
Keep a copy of yopur deal.......and check my words with a fed or state labor office...or...
