I used regular phones with aligator clips (from Radio Shack) for years before I actually bought a Butt Set. When your ready to buy something, get the little buttie pro, I've used mine for about 3 years. Perfect for VoIP of Digital Phone installations. I see them on EBay pretty regularly.
