I wanted to add something to last night's reply . Take a close look at patch cables supplied by the manufacturer of the phone devices ( fax , phone , etc, ) . Some of thier wires will only have 2 contacts in terminal plugs . If it does , and is connecting to the pair earmarked for the phone , it will ring on the phone line . And your butt set , does it have the clips ( single pair ) , or is it RJ 45 , cause that will have 2 pr. + 2 lines . I know everybody is throwing a lot of suggestions at you , but we all want to help out best we can , without being there first hand to see what is really going on . Please let us know what you find out .
