you're right, the more experience guy is going to win. I was trying make the case that most of your better techs are going to go where the most money is. For the most part, the quality of installation techs is lower than that for say, sweep or splice or mdu or other areas where it takes years to build knowlege, instead of 1/2 hr cert course on compression fittings.
Some may disagree. You can be a hack in whatever you do, but the residental installer is definately the bottom of the food chain.
But would you EVER get an electrician to drive to someone's house to fish a wall for 10 bucks? He's got other places to make money, with thousand's of potential customers. Most cable techs have one, the MSO in their home town. Its price control. Besides, it ain't the wall fish that kill you, its the drive to the house that costs money.
