The diesel engine was origianlly designed to run on peanut oil and there are programs out there that allow you to pick up used fry grease from resteraunts. It has to be filtered then heated to a certain temperature before it can run in your truck but it works.
Ethanol or at least E85 only has 72% of the "power" of regular gasoline right now and it's more expensive (I think) so it's probably not the solution for today, maybe tomorrow......
