I live in the Midwest, but I've become sort of a hurricane junkie over the past few years. Started one year when we were headed to Mexico for vacation and a storm was in the area, then just got sucked in by how awesome hurricanes are. Don't get me wrong...I don't say 'awesome' to mean I like them...simply mean they're amazing storm systems. I feel the same way about a tornado. I'd love to chase a twister as long as it's heading through a cornfield, not tearing up somebody's house and depositing their truck 20 miles away. I have read where the experts are predicting an active hurricane season, but a lot of that is based on historical data, water temps, etc. It still takes a laundry list of things to happen to make one of these form. From what I've seen on a couple of documentaries, even the experts aren't 100% sure how exactly they do form. So...I can respect their predictions because the conditions will probably favor development and they know a whole helluva lot more than I do, but it's definitely not a sure thing. I've also read that the same prediction that calls for more storms and more intense storms also predicts that there won't be as many landfalling hurricanes. Lets hope so. To all of you in the area...if one's headed your way, get out please. I know I can't relate to hurricanes, but if somebody tells me that an F3 or F4 tornado was coming and was going to park over my house for the next 10 hours, I'm not about to sit here and ride it out. Hope for a break from the storms this year and, most of all, be safe.
