Just one more, I worked cable for some time, did splicing, activation, and installs. When I started the pay was $.26 a foot for newbuild, $.32 for retro. Was not uncommon to take home $2600.00 a week. Now ask what they are getting from anyone still in the business and splicing.
That money was great when you actually got paid!! Always count on your retainage to be kept, never count on your last two checks from a job when you move on, and you may make it. Always be looking for the next job and have one lined up long before the one you are on comes to an end.
Be ready to live your life in a motel, and above all else SAVE SAVE SAVE money for the hard times, Good Luck!!!
