If they can cut the pork-barrel spending, it can be done. Since McCain was the only one applauding when Bush talked about "earmarks", though, I wouldn't count on it. We only have two options:
1. Cut spending
2. Raise taxes.
I like getting most of the money I work for, so I'm all for #1. Bad enough that my wife and I pay about 6% of our household gross income as real estate tax...basically rent...to live in the house we're buying. Both sides of the aisle are guilty when it comes to overspending, and I don't see anybody putting a stop to that, so inevitably #2 will be the result. Enjoy it while you can.
