Our son is now back in the US after 8 months in Iraq last year in the USMC. He told us the media is only portraying the worst of things also....(but of course, that's what they get ratings on is the sensationalism). Our son told us that although bad things happened there as in any war, many of the Iraqi's are glad the US military is there and are supporting their efforts. Let's just hope we do achieve the ultimate goal and get the hell out of there sooner rather than later. I hope you are incorrect and that the article written is not a pitch for recruitment, but if it is just that, there is nothing wrong with young people enlisting and serving for their country. With the news from our daughter that she may be heading over to Iraq in May, and our son still being on deployment status until April 2006 to go to Afghanistan this time, we are very proud (albeit terrified) of our military kids. They knew what they signed on for and the consequences, and should the unthinkable occur, there will be no Cindy Sheehan's in this family.
