I was in autobody for 6 years, I had about 12 grand in tools, and was pulling in 21,000 a year working 18 hour days in the winter.
I know what you mean.
Collecting tools and drop for cable or sat isn't the cheapest thing either.
But doing DirecTV installs is far worse, at least in autobody I wasn't up on icy roofs making chump change, I got paid vacations, profit sharing, and a 401k plan that matched 8%!
I'm guessing you worked for chump change as a mechanic at some oil changing joint, and you haven't realized how ****ty this trade is.
Took me a couple months to figure it out.
The semi clean hands, and watching people get there DVR's like it was Christmas was pretty cool though. I really thought the trade was cool.
But, I have to many bills for a hobby job.
