"You might be a hack if" you have a company name written in shoe polish on you windows.
As far as $50 for a pole mount, DirecTV themselves ask that tech's not charge more than $75. I offer 3 different types of pole installations.
Free pole mount: requires tech to flatten 1' of the bottom end of pole, then drive it in the ground a good 2-3 ft, cable is to be buried by the customer.
$25 pole mount: use 60-80 lbs of quickcrete, customer buries cable.
$50 pole mount: same as $25 option plus includes cable to be buried up to 50'
Needless to say, I usually do the "free" pole mount. (The company I contract for provides the pole. If I paid for the pole I would have to charge at least $10 to drive it in the ground. I would also charge at least $5 for flat line adapters. One must not only consider the cost of replacing these items, but also the time, energy, and fuel in replacing the stock.
