Hi All. The reason the phone line MUST be hooked up is because that is how the receiver tells the provider (DISH or DTV) that a Pay-per-view event has been ordered. Why are DISH and DTV so INSISTENT the phone line is hooked up? Because if it wasn't, they couldn't bill the sub for PPV. If the op center doesn't hear from the receiver in 30 days they shut it off.
