Yeah, but the DISH DTV merger would have created only 1 source for consumers who wanted satellite. Not good for competition which would be bad for consumers. It could be argued that a merger of DISH and AT&T would promote competition, in both cable and telecom. And thats pretty much all the goverment wants, healthy competition. Remember, in 1997 I think it was, the goverment said no to a proposed merger of AT&T and SBC. But now they have approved it. And it was approved even though SBC became bigger from when they bought Ameritech.
