Farmers got the right idea. Most new eqip. S/A will blow all the way back to the power supply. ohm out your legs for a short as it will most likely be the leg you've been working on. unless your biting off multiple legs. Your splicers should be ohmoing out as they go along eliminating the need to start in the middle eliminating the need to run back and forth to look for the short. If it's an amperage issue simple math on the draw from the amps off that power supply will tell you whether that is an issue. stay under 80% of the total amp for that supply and you won't have that problem. An amp clamp will check your draw, not the vom, and the system has to remain working for that to be of value. power passing taps make it somewhat difficult to trouble shoot these days but simply ohming for a short on each leg will get ya started in the right direction. then as farmer says start in the middle of the run, ohm out in either direction, conquer the problem. good luck, Mike M.
