1) I've seen a satellite tech ground to the dish. There was actually an edge meter clamp (for those who dont know: the thing that you use to ground to the cover of an underground electric meter) fastened to the lip of the dish.
2) I've seen another satellite tech ground to the chain link fence that was running next to the customers house. He actually put a ground strap around the horizontal pole.
3) I've seen a cable drop ground to the telephone riser guard - the plastic riser going into the house box.
4) I've seen techs just stick the ground wire in the dirt and cover it with like 6" of dirt.
5) I've seen techs ground to the downspout of a gutter.
6) And most recently, today I saw a telephone tech ground the main box coming in off the pole to a business park (the telco cable was like 2" thick) - ground to the metal framework of the building.
Makes you wonder: "What the hell was that guy thinking?!?!?"
