It was a dark, dark, ugly time. In fact, I believe that the "grunge" movement of the late eighties, early nineties can be traced back to "Shaggy" from Scooby Doo fame, who came to be at the same time as the aforementioned chrome Christmas trees. With lights shining on them! Dark. Ugly. Shameful. A wretched period.
