Prisma DT installation and activation contract for Scientific Atlanta

Scientific-Atlanta, headquartered in metro Atlanta, is at the forefront of today's telecommunications revolution, with 1999 sales in excess of $1 billion. We have an exciting contract opportunity for a Prisma DT Field Support Engineer.

Location: Will be on road 80% of time. Work out of home a possibility if close to a major airport.

Compensation : Intitially Start as contractor on a weekly rate plus expenses

Reports to: Field Operations Supervisor

Skills Required:
1) CATV system experience.
2) Fiber Optic troubleshooting and maintenance experience
3) CATV Headend troubleshooting and maintenance experience
4) 5 years CATV experience
5) Operation of basic CATV electronic troubleshooting tools (e.g. spectrum analyzer, optical power meter)
6) Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft and equiv software products (eg. office2000)

Skills Desired: 1) Digital network experience (i.e. TCP/IP, SONET, etc)
2) Experience with SA Headend equipment.

Functional Tasks: 1) Install modules into DT chassis. 2) Connect Headend cables required to activate DT system. 3) Clean and connect fiber optic cables to DT modules. 4) Set operating levels 5) Proof and troubleshoot system using electronic test equipment. 6) Document results of install

Travel Required: Travel out on Monday morning, return home Friday afternoon. 80% of year.

Education Required: High school + post high school technical education (preferably in CATV field). Experience can be considered as a substitute by candidate.

Visibility: The Field Engineer will be face to face with the customer. They will need excellent verbal and written skills and will need to be able to present themselves as a CATV professional.
