DESIGN ENGINEER
Scientific-Atlanta, headquartered in metro Atlanta, is at the forefront of today's telecommunications revolution, with 1999 sales in excess of $1 billion. We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer in Atlanta, GA.
This individual will be responsible for designing state-of-the-art broadband facilities to provide analog and digital video channel delivery and targeted services such as high-speed data, status monitoring, video on demand and telephony. Will also be responsible for the design of floor layouts, schematics and wiring diagrams (forward and reverse) of broadband networks, including earthstation, headend and hub service related opportunities. Interfacing with potential and current customers to develop designs and communicating, coordinating and reviewing drafting updates with the appropriate CAD operator will also be involved. Will also facilitate documentation based on customer specifications and revisions from development through design and delivery, and develop/utilize a vendor library for equipment utilized in the design/drafting and quote process.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 10 years experience in broadband and/or CATV operations. Must be familiar with forward and reverse design techniques. Requires a self-starter with strong organizational skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel. A knowledge of CAD programs such as Visio Technical, AutoCAD and Microstation J is preferred.
