It's no joke. Broadband over powerlines is active in quite a few markets. Current Communications, a subsidiary of Cinergy, who is the power/gas company in Cincinnati has several communities active, and is currently building, a system that is completey wireless to the home. You plug your modem into any power outlet in your home, and your there. I am not worried about it shutting CATV down, because there is pros and cons to the system, but it does give the consumer yet another choice and keeps things competitive. Do you really think any MSO in cable is going to fold their hand and walk away? Yeah right. They will just push yet another latest and greatest technology that will surpass the competition, causing the competition to go back to the drawing board, just as they did the cable company. If you are diverse in what you do, continuing to work, in one capacity or another, is no problem. Think outside the box.
