Re: New Contractor

If you know someone on the inside, ask for a typical contract.

Prices are usually dictated by the Cable Companies so ask what they are willing to pay for the jobs you are qualified to do.

Then ask for the job.

You will need insurance, tools, vehicles, and cash flow for at least 60 days. You'll have to develop skills in accounting, reporting, computer programs such as quickbooks, word, excel, paperport, and winfax and record keeping efficiency.

Start up capital can be from 2K to 10K, depending on how much equipment and software you already have and the kind of breaks you get on insurance and computer hardware and software. The rest or even start up costs can be gotten from your personal lines of credit or a bank. The first 60 days of cash flow can be obtained from your personal lines of credit, a bank, or a factor company.

The only jobs available at first will be the crappy ones no one else wants. Don't be picky.

Have fun.
