The connector doesn't act like an antenna, the braid does, think about it. An antenna is nothing without its elements, without its elements its just a pole sticking up in the air, and wont recieve anything, put some elements on it and you get signal. The wicking that I told you about is the worst thing about it, its simple enough to avoid all of this. Just speaking from experience fellas'. Thats why every one went to sealed fittings, push-on connectors do the same thing, because they allow ingress. You never see "wicking" with push-on connecters because even Delbert from Kentucky wont use those outside. Just use good "F" connectors and be done with the whole discussion.
