Property taxes in Texas are horrible. Makes up about a fifth of my house payment. I've been in some states with no income tax and little property tax but their sales tax is around 9.25%. I think this is the way to go in Texas. Income tax would never work because of all the illegals. They also probably don't own property so they are not generating any property tax revenue. Just raise the sales tax and lower the property tax. They are bound to make more money from the illegals while giving decent people a break.
