Re: starting contracting company

The way things are going in the industry, you need to know more about politics than cable to start a company. If you have the financing and an "in" with the MSO, along with your insurance policy information & certificates, and a signed contract with statement-of-work, pricing, etc, then you shouldn't have any trouble starting an "on paper" business. Most MSO's are going with national firms at this time, looking for employee based operations with a high start up cost for vehicles, employee insurance, etc. I would say your best bet is to get a tight group together & sub from an established company. If you're minority owned, you'll have a better chance of getting in with your local county/state labor departments as a "preferred vendor" of sorts... Not saying it's right, it's just the way it is.
