Just kidding...I would absolutely refuse to do it. No job is worth risking dying over. And if your boss tells you otherwise, run, and run far away because he's not the kind of person you want to work for.
As the old addage goes, "Safety first."
Oh, and one more piece of advice. Ask your boss, if he tells you just to drill the hole, call OHSA and ask them the same question.
