Actually, another union member who is in the CWA should give us there opinion. Afterall, Bruister employees have chosen CWA to represent them. Nothing against the electrical union, but the CWA is the communication workers association.
Their dues are 1 1/4 hours per week. If think that a union doesn't do much for an in house tech, just ask a ma-bell tech next time you see him. Especially if they are working out of town (unbeleivably great pay 4-5K weekly, which a tech should make for going out of town to work).
