Actually, if I were in your shoes, I'd go linemans apprentice. I've done some of that work (transmission tower -- high tension power lines), it's tough, don't get me wrong, but you actually get the feeling that you earned your paycheck (which is good), rather than the feeling that you may not have a job come tomorrow.
