There is a federal law on the books that says that any merchant or vendor can not raise the price of their product more that 10%
during a Federally mandated emergancy. This directly applies to those gas stations and stores that raised prices on fuel, ice, food etc several times a day to everyone trying to stay alive after this terrible storm. Those folks will pay very heavy fines and in most cases lose there business license. Unfortunitaly they will not be nailed until the more important issues are dealt with.
I saw a news report out of Atlanta last night where a gas station owner raised his prices six time in one day to $6.09 for regular. The reporter asked him why he did this and in broken English, Middle Eastern accent , he said he was trying to slow sales so he'd have some gas later on.
Now that pisses me off!
