Probably right now the best thing to do to help those poor people suffering aftereffects from the hurricane is to send a donation.....as you all say, it is going to be a long time before all the damage is assessed and rebuild is done....those jumping on the band wagon too soon will find out that patience is a virtue in this case! Good luck to all in this unfortunate situation.
