TXU has sent 570 employees and contractors to south Louisiana and Mississippi to assist in repairs after Katrina, said Carol Peters, a TXU spokeswoman in Dallas.
That is in addition to 142 TXU workers who were dispatched to south Florida last week. The employees and contractors are from throughout the TXU system and not just North Texas.
Peters said TXU has adequate workers to handle emergency outages in Fort Worth and its other service areas, but "we are asking customers to be patient with non-critical requests."
