I resent the implication that only new guys get ripped, and do a bad job. I did installs for 4 years, and never failed a qc after the first 6 months(outside figure.). still got jerked around by the managers, and got backcharged for BS reasons.
I only worked for 2 companies and one(OCI) flat out ripped me off, lied to me, backcharged me with no paperwork or chances to fix my gigs. I still am fighting them over my retainage, and last paycheck. they even suspended me for 3 day for bad QCs but could never show me where I had messed up.
the second I told them from the start how I was, and they still harassed me about being slow. that was mostly a conflict with the manager, but the pay was on time, whether I agreed with the backcharges or not.
So I am batting 500.
as for only working for 4 companies, you're lucky, a couple of our installers from CTIS have worked the same system for 15-20 years and have worked for 5 different companies, due to buyouts and changes in primes.
